Miami Earns College Football Playoff Berth Despite Missing ACC Championship Game

MIAMI, Florida (FLAN 35) — In a move that immediately sparked national debate, the Miami Hurricanes have secured a spot in the College Football Playoff, despite not playing in — or winning — the ACC Championship Game.

The committee announced the final field on Sunday, placing Miami among the nation’s top twelve teams after a season built on consistency, wins, and strength-of-record profiles in the country.

Miami’s résumé ultimately outweighed the traditional expectation of needing a conference title to reach the playoff. The Hurricanes delivered multiple victories and displayed week-to-week stability that impressed committee members throughout the second half of the season.

Miami will travel to College Station on Dec. 20 to face Texas A&M for the right to play Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl on Dec. 31 at AT&T Stadium
