Canes Grind It Out, Knock Off Aggies 10–3 in CFP Showdown
MIAMI, Florida (FLAN 35) — Miami proved it can win ugly — and win big — when it matters most.
The Hurricanes edged the Aggies 10–3 on the road in a hard-nosed College Football Playoff matchup, leaning on defense, discipline, and timely execution to punch their ticket forward in the CFP.
From the opening kick, it was clear points would be at a premium. Both defenses dominated the line of scrimmage, limiting explosive plays and forcing long, grinding drives. Miami struck first with a field goal after a methodical opening possession, setting the tone for a night defined by patience rather than flash.
The game’s only touchdown came late in the second quarter, when Miami capitalized on field position and finished the drive with a short scoring strike, giving the Canes a 10–0 lead heading into halftime. From there, the Hurricanes’ defense took over.
The Aggies managed just one field goal in the second half, but any momentum was quickly shut down by Miami’s front seven, which consistently pressured the quarterback and closed running lanes. Key third-down stops and a takeaway in Aggie territory sealed the outcome.
Miami’s offense didn’t pile up numbers, but it didn’t need to. Ball control, smart decisions, and mistake-free football were enough.
In a playoff game where toughness mattered more than style points, Miami delivered — and walked out of one of the toughest road environments in college football with a statement win.
